ANNUAL MEDICARE REVIEW

Your healthcare needs can change, and Medicare plans can change too. An annual review helps confirm that your current coverage still works for your doctors, prescriptions, budget, and lifestyle.

Why Review Your Coverage?

Your plan may change its:

  • Monthly premium

  • Deductibles, copays, or coinsurance

  • Prescription drug list

  • Pharmacy network

  • Provider network

  • Additional benefits

  • Coverage rules or service area

Your own needs may also change when you begin taking a new medication, see a different doctor, move, travel more often, or experience a change in health.

What Should You Review?

During your annual review, consider:

  • Are your doctors and specialists still in-network?

  • Are your prescriptions still covered?

  • Are your preferred pharmacies still included?

  • Have your costs changed?

  • Are you using the benefits included in your plan?

  • Does your coverage still fit your healthcare needs and budget?

Your plan should send an Annual Notice of Change each fall explaining changes that will take effect the following January. Reviewing this notice can help you decide whether to keep your current coverage or compare other options.

When Can You Make Changes?

Medicare Open Enrollment runs from October 15 through December 7 each year. During this period, you may be able to change Medicare Advantage or prescription drug coverage. Changes generally take effect January 1.

Additional enrollment opportunities may be available after certain life events, such as moving or losing other coverage.
