Medicare Advantage

Medicare Advantage or Medicare Part C requires that you have original Medicare Parts A & B. It provides coverage through provider networks called HMOs, PPOs and MSAs. Medicare Part C basically replaced original Medicare Parts A and B and can include coverage for Medicare Part D. The key benefit is that Medicare Advantage plans include a maximum out of pocket feature to help you control costs

Medicare Supplement

If you want to explore Medicare Supplemental insurance or Medigap, there are lots of options.  You must have Medicare Parts A and B but then purchase a Medicare Supplement policy to cover certain costs that Medicare does not.  There are 8 federally standardized Medicare Supplement insurance plans that are offered in most states – Plans A through N.  They are offered by many different insurance companies.

Prescription Drugs or Medicare Part D have costs that vary by county and by plan. Part D pay or may not be part of an employee group health plan, a union plan or retiree coverage. Veterans are exempted from the requirement to enroll in the coverage, but may choose to do so.
